Diverticulosis and Diverticulitis
Diverticulosis and Diverticulitis: "Many people have small pouches in the lining of the colon, or large intestine, that bulge outward through weak spots. Each pouch is called a diverticulum. Multiple pouches are called diverticula. The condition of having diverticula is called diverticulosis. About 10 percent of Americans older than 40 have diverticulosis.1 The condition becomes more common as people age. About half of all people older than 60 have diverticulosis.2"Diverticulosis and Diverticulitis: About 10 percent of Americans older than 40 have diverticulosis.1 The condition becomes more common as people age. I accompanied my brother to the VAMC in Houston on Monday and stopped into see my primary care physician and ended up being admitted via the emergency room. I was brought up to very spacious comfortable private room on the 5th floor with a really nice view of South Houston. When I was thinking about how nice my planned change of scenery trip was going to be I didn't have that in mind.
